Bookkeeping: How a VA can provide value

Bookkeeping can be a tedious process for entrepreneurs. It’s an administrative task that often takes the back seat to more exciting elements of running a business such as sales, marketing, design, and overall strategy. Just because it’s an administrative task does not mean that it should be overlooked by any means. Bookkeeping is the kind of thing that quietly determines whether your business is healthy or not. After all, inadequate bookkeeping implies that you don’t have a full grasp of your financials; including your liabilities and assets. If you’re unable to understand your cash flow and your savings, how can you truly understand how much money you have to invest in new initiatives for marketing and sales? Or how can you guarantee payroll and hire employees if you’re unaware of your company’s financial status?

A Virtual Assistant is a great asset for your administrative requirements, especially one like bookkeeping. Every business owner has bills to pay, assets and liabilities to oversee, and invoices to send out. A Virtual Assistant can help you manage your automatic bill pay, set up payment authorizations, prepare invoices, and track deposits and withdrawals linked to your bank account. Virtual Assistants are capable of mailing past due notices, analyzing customer’s average spend, and providing end-of-month accounting reports for you.

Don’t forget that companies usually hire an office assistant to focus on bookkeeping tasks! So if you find yourself bogged down by your numbers, you should strongly consider hiring some outside help. Instead of hiring a full time office assistant and worrying about increased overhead, you should think about the value that comes from hiring a competent and accountable Virtual Assistant. Thankfully, at iVBS, we have the professionals that are the perfect complement to your administrative team.

If you’d like some more specific information of the value a VA can provide for your bookkeeping requirements, schedule a free 30 minute consultation and we can discuss the value a VA can provide in regards to bookkeeping.

Weekly Wednesday Online Resource: Log Me In

Remote desktop access is the ability of an individual to access his or her personal work computer from a remote machine (laptops, other desktops, and mobile phones). This allows individuals to stay productive regardless of wherever you go. It gives you the freedom to work wherever you like without being tied down to a single desktop or laptop that you forgot at home.  For a traveling entrepreneur, remote desktop access is an incredible tool that gives you control over how and where you work. There is value from using remote desktop access, regardless of whether you are on the move or not. Below, I’ve written a primer on a Remote Desktop Access solution that’s called: Log Me In.

Log Me In offers a free Android and IOS mobile app that is available for download in their respective marketplaces. Log Me In allows a mobile user to manage/share files, watch/stream videos, and manage user access. As a mobile app, there isn’t that much functionality compared to using Log Me In on a desktop, due to the limited screen size and functionality of using a mobile phone. But, if you anticipate that you’ll need to send or share sensitive files from your desktop then Log Me In mobile is a great option for helping you with your workflow.

Log Me In for desktop or laptop usage has a wide spectrum of features that is not available on the mobile phone. If you need to edit documents that are stored on your desktop, remote access will allow you to login from any desktop or laptop you desire.  You can also remote print documents from your host computer to any local printer you designate. Log Me In is a great solution to consider if you have a work computer and a personal computer. Instead of driving to your office to handle sensitive documents, you can connect your personal computer and have it act as your office computer, therefore negating any reason for you to travel to your workplace.

There are many remote desktop solutions, but few are as effective as Log Me In. If you find yourself driving back and forth between work and home to handle your projects, you should strongly consider signing up for remote desktop access from a provider.

If you’d like some more information on how to integrate remote desktop access in your workflow, please schedule a 30 minute consultation with me on my time trade schedule!
