A Priority Mindset

In a world that offers itself on a silver platter, it’s no surprise that filtering out our lives does not come easy to many of us. Throughout our lives, we all have to make some individual choices on how to prioritize our time, our relationships, and our work. A priority mindset is a mindset where you take time to audit your goals, tasks, and time in order to outline your priorities. It requires self-awareness and deep introspective thought about who you are, what your goals are, and how you intend to achieve them.  An easy first step to discovering your priority mindset is asking yourself the question, “What activities contribute most to the growth of my company?”

When you evaluate your situation from the perspective of the aforementioned question, it places things into perspective. As an individual running a business, it’s important that you focus on activities, campaigns, or initiatives that directly contribute to the growth of your company. There will be tasks that indirectly affect your company’s trajectory, but those tasks should be addressed after your main priorities are finished or it should be delegated. As a result, your productivity and personal satisfaction should increase as your work is infused with purpose.

A priority mindset also does wonders outside of the workplace. If someone asks you for an investment of your time or your attention, you should apply the priority mindset to your thought process before replying. If you’re not 100% committed to saying Yes, then don’t say yes. The word “no” is an incredibly liberating word but individuals are often afraid to use it for myriad reasons. Saying no is the secret sauce of a priority mindset. Learn to use it as often as you need to.

Prioritizing doesn’t necessarily mean cutting out parts of your life; it means going all in on people or tasks that increase your growth, paving a path to actualizing your dreams and creating new ones.

I hope this mindset blog resonates with you and if you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to give me feedback in the comment box! Weekly Online Resource: Daily Planner Mobile Apps

Daily Planner mobile apps are a great tool for organizing and prioritizing your time as you progress through your day.  Your time is precious so you should treat as such. Daily planners for your mobile phone offer tremendous value when used properly.  Below are some recommendations for both IOS and Android mobile operating systems.

Schedule Planner

Schedule Planner is a mobile IOS application that streamlines your schedule by organizing your tasks. Tasks are organized by category and priority to ensure that you know your time obligations day in and day out.  Schedule Planner lets you easily create new tasks, edit tasks, or batch edit multiple tasks. It also allows you to view statistics to see which tasks are consistently fulfilled and which are not completed.   Schedule Planner is offered with a “Freemium” pricing model, in that most basic functionality is available in their free version, but advanced functionality is only available in their paid version ($1.99).

Business Calendar

Business Calendar is a professional and versatile app for Android mobile phone users. It is highly customizable and has exceptional functionality. You can: see all events of your day with a single tap, add customizable widgets, add events and tasks, and personalize the appearance and functionality of your app according to your preference. All these capabilities are accessible in the free version of the app, but for increased features, you’ll have to upgrade to the Business Calendar Pro ($4.99). The Business Calendar Pro allows you to perform advanced task management, create subtasks, change priorities and repeat recurring tasks.

Personally, I use Schedule Planner to help me stay on task for my daily schedule. I upgraded to the paid version so I could easily create recurring tasks to make my daily scheduling more efficient. If you have any recommendations or suggestions on scheduling apps, please don’t hesitate to give some feedback in our comment section!

Daily planning apps are a set of tools to help you achieve your goals. It won’t help you if you download the app and don’t have the proper mindset to utilize its features.

How to utilize focus effectively

The mind is an incredible tool. When we utilize it correctly, we are able to reach heights that were previously thought of as unattainable. The key to applying your mind correctly is using the power of focus to push away distractions or negative thoughts. Focus can be a double edged sword; it can be applied in a positive way or it can be applied in a way that prevents you from actualizing your potential. Throughout your entrepreneurial journey, there will be many opportunities for distractions to take your focus away from where it should be properly applied. There are times where problems or set-backs arise and we tend to allow ourselves to sink into our circumstances by meditating on the worst possible outcomes. It’s important to recognize how focus can be applied in a way detrimental to your success. Being aware of how it can hurt you helps to make you realize that it can be used in a positive manner. The first step towards change is self-awareness after all.

Have you encountered a hurdle in your life where you knew that a “leap of faith” was worse in your mind than the actual “leap” itself? Our mind plays tricks on us often, but only if you allow it to. Focusing on the positive outcomes or benefits allows you to disregard anything that will hinder you from completing the task at hand. Fear, doubt, and loss of hope will always pervade your thought process. Focus is the tool that should be used for discarding those insecurities.

Like in a camera lens, if your focus is not properly calibrated, you will never see what’s in front of you. Your vision is obscured, blurry, and distracted. However, if you take the steps to calibrate your focus, then your vision is clear and precise.

I have additional tricks I use to manage and calibrate my focus and I would love to share them with you. Sit down with me for a brief free 30 minute consultation and we can review the best way to calibrate your focus for your business endeavors.
